Carbon Analyzer/ Muffle Furnace 
Total organic carbon (TOC) determination (for screening prior to pyrolysis analysis by RockEval-6) by ‘loss on ignition method’

  • To correlate Oil -Oil and Oil -Source rock;

  • Around 250 geochemical investigation reports on outcrops and drill-cuttings of wells drilled by OGDCL and JV operator since 1979;

ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY
MAIN OBJECTIVE:
  • To assist in formation evaluation by chemical analysis of formation fluids;
  • To help trouble shooting on the basis of analysis data by assigning reasons;
  • To carryout onsite testing for taking right decisions in real time;
  • To help resolve controversies in testing the crude for pricing at refineries.
FUNCTION/EQUIPMENT:
  • Chemical analysis of water (formation, waste, drinking ) and allied testing by exploiting DR-4000 spectrophotometer.
  • Testing of crude oil/condensate oil.
  • Corrosion coupons analysis.
  • To analyse the sludge & scale samples etc. recovered from vessels & pipelines.
  • To address the controversies in testing of crude oil for pricing at refineries.
  • Environment related testing of BOD, COD by exploiting BOD & COD system of HACH, USA.
  • Sulpher analysis in oil by SLFA-2100.

CORE ANALYSIS LAB

MAIN OBJECTIVE:
  •  Furnish both geological & engineering information.
  •  Guide the decision affecting both the cored and subsequent wells in the area.
  •  Direct physical measurement along-with down-hole well logs and other well-test data to the best development decisions.
  •  Produces the basic data about a reservoir.
  •  The presence or absence of hydrocarbon.
  •  The storage capacity (Porosity).
  •  The flow capacity and its distribution (Permeability).
EQUIPMENT/FUNCTION:  

Dean-Stark Apparatus:
  • To determine the quantity of hydrocarbons accumulated in a porous rock formation.
  • Residual fluids in the recovered core reflect the quantity and type of fluids present at reservoir conditions. 
Core Measuring System(CMS-300):   
  • An integrated, automated computer directed permeameter & porosimeter;
  • Determines sample length, sample diameter, porosity, pore volume, air permeability at a specified mean pressure, klinkenberg  permeability, Forchheimer inertial Factor and Klinkenberg  measured slippage correction  factor.
Core Gamma Ray Logger:
  • Used for discerning lithology and depth correlation with down hole well logs.

SEDIMENTOLOGY
MAIN OBJECTIVES:
  • Lithological description and Petrographic study of well cuttings, cores and field rock samples from thin sections, slabs and processed cuttings.
