Mr. Shahzad Safdar
Mr. Shahzad Safdar is a senior business executive with vast exposure of the HR and OD domains. With degrees in Engineering and Business Administration from UET, Lahore, and LUMS, he started his career with PTCL, where he had his initial grounding in the fields of engineering management, customer care, and project management. After initial few years, he was selected to work in the HR realm and be a part of the team that oversaw the privatization of PTCL through the sale of a strategic stake to the UAE-based Etisalat Group. This led to him having extensive exposure to strategic HR, organizational restructuring, and business process re-engineering. It also allowed him to interact closely with the Etisalat Group’s operating companies spread across Asia and Africa. During this stint, he led transformational initiatives, working in close collaboration with world-renowned consultants like McKinsey and BearingPoint, to deliver results that directly impacted the bottom line through successful design and rollout of projects such as voluntary separation schemes and organizational revamp.
After leaving PTCL, Mr. Shahzad joined Kot Addu Power Company – the largest IPP at the time – as its Head of HR&A. From there, he went to lead the HR function at Pakistan State Oil, the largest Oil Marketing Company in the country. Currently, he is associated with OGDCL, the national E&P giant, since March 2020.
He holds experience and exposure to the whole HR spectrum including operations, organizational development, talent management, learning, succession management, employer branding, administration, internal communications, and shared services. Managing change has been a hallmark of his career as he has spearheaded many change initiatives with a track record of success in enhancing organizational capability, performance, commitment, and results.
