Date:
Wednesday, 3rd of September 2025

OGDC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) to construct 100 disaster-resilient homes in District Sohbatpur, Balochistan. The MoU was signed by Mr. Ahmed Hayat Lak, MD/CEO, OGDCL, and Ms. Arifa Mazhar, Chief Executive, SPO.

With an investment of Rs. 200 million, OGDCL will develop the OGDCL-Model Village to provide secure, eco-friendly housing for low-income families near the Uch Gas Field who were severely affected by the 2022 floods.

Each solar-powered home will include a bore-hole water system, ensuring long-term sustainability. The village will also feature a community hall, mosque, and children's play area to foster healing, connection, and resilience.

By utilizing local labor and resources, the initiative will support both recovery and livelihood generation, boosting the local economy.

This project embodies OGDCL’s commitment to climate-smart infrastructure, renewable energy, and community empowerment. It transforms post-disaster recovery into an opportunity for sustainable development.

A transparent beneficiary selection process will ensure that support reaches the most vulnerable families, restoring dignity, security, and hope to those who lost everything.
