PAKISTAN BASINS STUDY

Pakistan Basin Study 2023 (PBS 2023) is a key strategic initiative by Pakistan's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources. The project has been initiated in August 2024 and it is stretched over a period of three years. A consortium of eminent E&P companies, including OGDCL, PPL, MEL, and GHPL is leading the project through a third-party consultant (M/s DeGolyer and MacNaughton). The study aims to enhance the understanding for regional geology and its complexities, paving the way for future exploration opportunities. The Phase-1 of this study project covering the initial data review, is completed. The Phase - 2a of the project, focusing on the Offshore Indus Basin, is near to completion. Preparations for the next phase for Offshore Makran are currently underway.
As a strategy in the recent onshore bidding round, OGDCL secured three blocks as operator and four blocks as joint venture partner. Securing these blocks highlights the company’s dedication towards significantly enhancing exploration activities within the country.
