Recent Learning and Development Initiatives
IWCF: Drilling Well Control Level 3 and level 4
OGTI conducted specialized IWCF-accredited training on Drilling Well Control Levels 3 and 4 at the Petroleum Training Academy. Designed for professionals in critical well control roles both offshore and onshore. The program ensures participants are equipped with the latest techniques for maintaining well integrity and safety.
The training covered fundamental well control principles, shut-in procedures, pressure control techniques, and equipment use. Level 3 focused on skills for shutting in wells, particularly Surface BOP operations, meeting the competency requirements for Drillers. Level 4 targeted Well Site Supervisors, enhancing their ability to manage advanced well control scenarios, making critical decisions under pressure, and lead in complex drilling environments.
Managing and Dealing with Hazards and Risks in Exploration (Seismic) Operations
OGTI conducted specialized training at Seismic Party-4 (SP-4) in the Kohat region, focused on the unique challenges of seismic exploration. The program covered hazard identification, risk management strategies, and practical tools to enhance safety and operational efficiency in the field.
Artificial Intelligence for Accelerated Subsurface Characterization
OGTI, in collaboration with the Department of Petroleum & Gas Engineering, UET Lahore, conducted a five-day training on AI and ML applications in subsurface characterization. The program covered AI-driven seismic workflows, geophysical data integration, seismic inversion, and reservoir simulation. It also highlighted real-time implementation of advanced techniques such as full-waveform inversion (FWI), uncertainty quantification, and cloud-based seismic imaging.
Unconventional Exploration, Appraisal and Development
OGTI conducted a training program titled "Unconventional Exploration, Appraisal, and Development," focused on tight gas reservoirs, including sands, limestone, and dolomite. The course featured case studies on Basin Centered Gas Accumulations (BCGA), techniques for mapping producibility factors, and resource estimation under uncertainty. It also covered economic considerations, decision-making tools such as decision trees and play chance estimation, along with practical methods for reservoir volume calculation and forecasting.
Integrated Sequence Stratigraphic Analysis
OGTI conducted a training program titled "Integrated Sequence Stratigraphic Analysis: A Tool for Hydrocarbon Exploration," covering depositional environments, stratigraphic trapping mechanisms, and forward stratigraphic modeling. The course included hands-on exercises, on-screen smart tests, and case studies to reinforce learning. Participants learned to identify stratigraphic sequences, evaluate trapping mechanisms, and apply stratigraphic models for reservoir analysis in real-world exploration and production.
Flowing Material Balance (FMB) Training
OGTI, in collaboration with GLJ Ltd. from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, conducted an advanced Flowing Material Balance (FMB) training program for our reservoir management and production professionals. This hybrid training, which combined classroom and virtual sessions, covered fundamental principles, reservoir engineering applications, advanced theories, and simulation models. Participants were equipped with essential troubleshooting skills and learned to integrate FMB techniques with other reservoir management practices, ensuring they were well-prepared to address complex challenges in the field.
Horizontal & Multilateral Drilling & Exploration Target Technology
OGTI conducted a specialized training program on Horizontal and Multilateral Drilling. This comprehensive training covered critical areas such as identifying suitable formations, drilling equipment and technology, well planning, and directional drilling techniques. Participants also gained insights into wellbore stability, completion techniques, production optimization, and health, safety, and environmental best practices. This program equipped our drilling professionals with the advanced skills necessary to optimize drilling operations and ensure operational safety and efficiency.
Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) Training
OGTI conducted a specialized training session on Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD), delivered by Weatherford. This training program covered essential aspects of MPD, including the principles and techniques, various MPD methods, and the equipment and systems used in these operations. Participants also learned about hydraulics and pressure management, well planning and design tailored for MPD, as well as operational procedures and best practices. The program highlighted the economic advantages of MPD, well control considerations, and the latest advancements and future trends in the field. This training ensured that our drilling professionals are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to optimize drilling efficiency and safety.
